They gave us the day off work, which was just as well. We followed our half-the-time-we-do-it tradition of staying home on New Years' Eve, even though it was a church night. That keeps us off the road w/ the drunk drivers, and under the roof to slow down any stray bullets (yes, people are STILL stupid enough to shoot guns into the air (vs. the ground) on New Years' Eve). Also we get to put out any fires should they happen to light off, since we are 3 years into a drought around here but it still sounds like a gun battle with all the fireworks going off in the neighborhood.
And it was just as well we did stay home, because #3 was running a 100 degree fever due to teething pains. Boo. That leads to a baby that won't sleep unless he's in arms, and then he slept fitfully enough that the parent holding him missed out on any chance of rest. We took turns but half of half a night's sleep isn't much. Oh well, at least I got to stay home from rest to sleep it off!
Have a happy new year everyone. And if you're not a Christian, do yourself a favor and ask someone who is, why you should be and how to get to be one.
Jesus loves you.
