PayPal Sucks

Step 1: Don't sell stuff very often
Step 2: Sell something on eBay from one verified eBay user to another verified eBay user
Step 3: Buyer pays
Step 4: Shipped the same day
Step 5: Buyer gets product
Step 6: PayPal holds funds just in case there is a dispute. Waiting for a + feedback, 21 DAYS to pass, or a delivery confirmation
Step 7: USPS marks status delivered
Step TWO WEEKS later: STILL no funds. Paypal sends "your funds are available" email and . . . STILL no funds.

You SUCK for this, PayPal.

Might Have to Change Banks Over This One.

I may actually have to change where I do my banking. We started out with Washington Mutual which was swallowed up by Chase. Chase, as you may have heard, is evil. Oh, you didn't hear that? Then read all about it my friends. And consider what it means that your money is making this business' profits.

Two Doozies In One Post

Naked Capitalism rang my bell twice tonight.

1) They had robosigners, sure. They also had people hired to forge signatures because ONE robosigner on your foreclosure team is just too slow!

2) They didn't just break the rules a little bit. They broke the rules a LOT when it comes to who holds a bunch of mortgages, and some lawyer may be getting rich soon on damages at least 3x the value of the properties treated this way

The post is a bit esoteric, but the main thrust is that the less-ethical banks in the mortgage business were in some cases REALLY unethical.

Pastor Does Not Speak, Still Achieves Goal!

We all know that since Mohammed made it up, insulting islam is a capitol (read: they kill you for it) offense. So some people are afraid of mentioning that radical islamists would like to take over and destroy our current government and replace it with one incompatible with both United States tradition and Christianity.

Not this guy. He may be a bit abrasive but he believes his message is worth rubbing people the wrong way.

So he wanted to speak across the street from the biggest mosque in the country. He and one other man. The local authorities got their panties in a twist and told him he had to post a Peace Bond because a sheet of paper will stop a riot right there on the spot. He refused, went to court, and was JAILED until he obeyed the court order to pay the $1. A Jury said him TALKING would pose a threat to peace*.

In my opinion: It is His Right to stand on public property and peaceably speak. He is being oppressed.

  • If a media circus develops when he speaks, is it his fault? No, it is the fault of the people who show up.
  • If violence breaks out, is it his fault? No, it is the fault of the perpetrators of the violence.
  • If he gets shot? Well I guess that pretty well proves he is right.
The fun part is, he wanted to call attention to his point: radical islamists want to institute sharia in the USA. If they had ignored him down at City Hall, about five passers-by would have heard his message. Now EVERYONE watching the news has both heard his message and seen how the local government and citizenry cower in fear before the mighty intimidation of islam. Unless they watch CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc. in which case they likely saw that a crazy person was forbidden from intentionally causing a murderous riot.
"Mr. Jones has been made as a martyr for free speech" -Dawud Walid, Excecutive Director, Council on American-Islamic Relations, Michigan chapter

The mouthpiece for an unindicted co-conspirator in terrorist attacks in the name of islam agrees with Pastor Jones? Yes, but for a slightly different reason. Walid says they should have let him talk to prove to the world that there would have been no riots in Darborn. But now the world will never know. What we know instead is that everyone is afraid even to mention that we are afraid of moslems killing people for saying words that go against them. If islamists were as harmless as Christians tend to be, this would not have been a problem. At all, ever.

********

You can't yell fire in a crowded theater. It is illegal because one expects the moviegoers will stampede for the door. What does it say about islam that it is illegal for this man to calmly speak about the radical side of that "religion?"

Anger at Welfare Recipients May Be Unjustified (so don't be angry at 'em)

~or~ Welfare the Cat as an Analog for 49% of Americans
********

This is Welfare the Cat.
Photobucket

She is a kitty that lives where I work. Every time I see her, I have to remind myself: being mad at her is dumb, because she is a cat and cannot think for herself.

Since she was a kitten, she was fed by the employees. Possibly she also goes out and gets her own food, but there is no need and I never saw her with a mouse or a roach in her mouth. One day I realized she was getting fat and blamed the employees for over feeding her. Then I realized she was gravid and I named her Welfare the Cat. She has no husband, but she was going to have children, who would also be totally supported by the productive efforts of someone else. Then they took her to the vet, killed the kittens before they were born and sterilized the cat. There will be no more cats in the Welfare family, and her burden to society is limited to what she will take.

The analogy is not perfect. Current welfare brood mares don't kill (all) their children before they are born, because they get paid more the more children they drop. There is moral outrage when someone suggests even temporary sterilization of recipients of taxpayer-funded handouts. Forced sterilization is something we conflate with Nazism and the Communists in China.
But those are people, and this is a cat. People should be able to think for themselves and aspire for their own benefit to greatness. A cat cannot think for herself. A welfare babymomma does not think for herself, at least not to the extent that she realizes she is actually harming herself and her progeny, as well as society and her neighbors individually. But to be angry at the fat black lady with eight kids in a shack in the ghetto is a waste of energy, just as much as it is a waste of energy to be mad at a brown tabby cat for being feral. The woman was 99.99995% certainly "educated" in government schools, and society has set up the circumstances in which she lives. She is to blame, but only part way. The rest of the blame falls

on Democrats.

Should Kagan Recuse on Healthcare Suit?

I think she would avoid the appearance of impropriety if she did, but if she didn't I don't put it past her to be objective. A 4/4 split would be pretty bad for the country if she did, but a 5/4 ruling upholding Obamacare would be much, much worse.

Sad commentary on the political system in America that this is even a question, and that the response to it will likely split perfectly down the political aisle.

Obamacare Is/Is Not Constitutional. Depending.

There will be a circuit split or I'm a monkey's nephew. This is going to the supreme Court of the United States. The judges will look back to Wickard v. Filburn where the guy tried to grow wheat for his own private use and the Nine Black Robes said it did affect interstate commerce for him to not engage in interstate commerce. Judge Norman Moon's decision will stand.

It is up to YOU to elect Congressmen and Senators in the 2012 election that will repeal this law. Then they must also pass a law that says "we hereby declare that our power over interstate commerce does not extend to non-commerce." This may even have to be a Constitutional amendment. Otherwise the precedents will stand, and the government For, By, and Of the People can force you (at gunpoint) to buy literally anything for any reason they deem worthy. Individual liberty is dead. Long live Amerika.

Or am I wrong? I'll know within the next 23 months.

"Juveniles" Can't Be Held For Life Without Parole

So a street thug who has beaten multiple people into retard status, who sells drugs to children, who rapes his whores, and is 17 years, 364 days old when he is arrested for anything but murder, must have a chance to walk the streets again?

The supreme Court made another distasteful decision yesterday because of a societal problem. If the 16 year-old thief in question had his hand removed for his trouble, this wouldn't even be a problem.

"Hey, where are we going, and how did we all get in this handbasket?"

Supreme Court Upholds Indefinite Custody For Sexually Dangerous Prisoners

Boo.

I find it interesting that they were able to find a reason why this is within the authority of Congress to do, while not addressing any of the other claims of the people trying to get out of prison after serving a full prison sentence. They said "you're screwed for this reason, but feel free to go back to court, spend a couple hundred thousand more dollars, and try again to get freed for one of these reasons." I have called this type of decision "chickening out" before, but a lawyer might call it a "limited" decision.

I hate the idea that a person can serve their prison sentence, then not be released. I also hate the idea that a sexual predator might be released, ever. The reason I don't like this decision is because it speaks of a much broader societal problem.

Baby rapers should be hanged.
18 year-olds doing 17 year-olds should be placed on probation.
Everything in the middle should probably be a long, long, long prison sentence.

There should not be a question of letting sexually dangerous crazy people out after their terms expire. Their prison sentences should have been appropriately long in the first place, but elections have consequences. When you people elect squishy/wobbly/downright leftist Presidents of the United States, we get judges who give slaps on the wrist for hangin' offenses, and now the supreme Court has had to come behind them and clean up the ants with a sledge hammer. I say again:

Boo.

Why Texans Have A Constitutional Right To Kill Trespassers:

A rancher who was repeatedly harassed and threatened on his own land by illegal aliens crossing the border over his property has been found dead (murdered). His dog was shot dead as well.

Every once in a while, the thought occurs to me to wonder, how many illegal aliens trying to come across to a better life, have been put into shallow graves as a preventative measure by ranchers and farmers along the Rio Grande.

WHA-AAAAAT!!!!??!?!?!!

Consider the choice that years of malignant neglect of the law of the land, combined with ridiculous immigration policy, have forced on some of the best people in the country (border farmers and ranchers):

  • Years of court battles, the loss of your life's savings, and the eventual forfeiture of your family's ranch to some non-Americans who were haraaaaaased by you, as you detained them for the ineffectual Federal law enforcement agencies involved (yes, this actually happened)

    or

  • TANG! TANG! TANG! (dead men tell no tales)

Four Years Of Double Health Insurance Payments: Sure Why Not?

Because apparently, everyone can afford to pay twice as much for health insurance for four years. . .

More news you may haven't heard about already: With the current bill they're trying to jam down your Representative's throat (the Senate-passed version) you will be getting bills for your Obamacare insurance plan for the next ten years. Your Obamacare insurance COVERAGE will start in year FIVE. That would be four years of paying for "defecit neutrality" and you still have to get your health care paid for somehow.

Immediate payments, but coverage starts in 4 years. That's why you're hearing it's reducing the deficit in 1st 10 years. This plan will cost a metric boatload of cash, but because they won't be paying out ANYTHING for the first four years, only taking in funds, it is deficit-neutral. You are not to ask about the next ten years of red ink, or the next, or the next . . .

You will still need to have health insurance for those first 4 years.

    Will that be free?

    NO.

By the way, the money you will be paying in for Obamacare? Yeah, that's going to current beneficiaries in the current government health care system. They are spending more money than they take in to pay Medicare bills. See? Deficit neutral. For ten years. By only providing 6 years of benefits. GENIUS!

    Boortz has a fun analogy:
You go to lease a car for 10 years. The first place says they'll lease it to you for $40,000 The second place says they'll only charge you $36,000. But you'll only get the car at the beginning of the FIFTH year. And you'll have to pay for something else to drive in the mean time.

Aaaaand Obama is backing off his call to not make any special deals for individual States as required to get individual Representatives to vote for the bill. In case you also missed that little gem.

What are you going to do about it?

    Austin Man Carjacked, Shot.

A delivery driver in Austin caught a few hot ones to the chest this morning. He saw two people approaching, at least one with a gun. At that point is when I would have been drawing my own gun and/or laying down a strip of rubber, red lights and oncoming traffic be damned.

Carry your guns, people. And remember: you probably won't get jacked if you run a light to get away from an assailant OR if you get in a wreck trying to get away.

    Screwed.

Man convicted in DUI case because he was not allowed to present physical evidence. Make that, evidence based in 100% proven science, relating to his own body. Ouch.

Another Worthy Place To Put $5

A man who should be hailed as a hero rots in a military prison. The end of his story is not written. Listeners donated, and Savage just contributed in their name, $50,000 to the defense fund of Lieutenant Michael Behenna.

This guy was railroaded. Contribute if you can.

    Ukranian Holodomor

For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. -Ecclesiastes 1:18

This filthy little kulak deserved what he got!

    ********

Holodomor translates from Ukranian Голодомор to "murder by starvation."

I mentioned this to a brother at church, in passing. I mentioned it after asking if it were King Solomon (the wisest man ever to walk the face of the earth) who wrote the verse at the top of this post. It was. He asked me what I was referring to.

Before I visited Moonbattery the other day, I had never heard the term holodomor. Having read up on it a little, it seems like you can get to 60,000,00+ dead innocents pretty quickly this way. You hear talk about the holocaust of the Jews during WWII, but have you ever heard of the terror of famine in the Ukraine?

In Ukraine, in 1932, there was a very large crop of wheat. Much, much more than was needed to feed the population. In Ukraine, in 1932-1933 somewhere between 2,000,000 and 20,000,000 persons (depending on whom you ask, most say 10,000,000) perished from starvation.

    Wait, what?

That's right. Starved to death, tens of millions of people. Why? Because the State said they should. Stalin said "Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas?" Ukranians had this funny idea about Ukraine being its own State when Stalin had a different idea. 83%-ish of the people who died in the Holodomor were Ukranians. Coincidence?

At Moonbattery, I found a link to the Holodomor Website. There, I was able to read charming personal anecdotes from people who were children at the time. Really lovely, heart-warming stuff like:

"Hungry people at night tried to dig out potatoes planted on the vegetable gardens. There were cases, when these “thieves” were dying on the somebody's field. . . Once I went to the school garden (nearly 300 meters from home) to cut linden leaves. I saw dead man on the road in front of the garden. It was very terribly and scary picture. . . It is hard to say how many people died in our large village, because at that time I was only eleven years old."

    It could never happen here!

Really? Do you honestly think the soon-to-be-dead people of Ukraine would have believed it, if you told them in 1930 what would soon befall them? Learn a lesson, my friend. The people of Ukraine had no guns. If a farmer saw that he had just a bit less than enough food to feed his children until the next harvest, and the government agents came around poking the earth to find his hidden food stores, and he had a rifle, what do you think he would have done?

The only ones with guns were the ones stealing the food from the people -in accordance with national policy.

    ********

It's a bit LATE for that NOW, isn't it!

    Thursday, February 11, 2010

    We're All Podunkville, Now.

There is no way this sort of thing can fail to go to the supreme Court. One can only hope it will be overturned there, or at least reversed and remanded.

Jurisdiction A says a photo of a beluga whale is offensive and bans it. A person in Jurisdiction Z takes a picture of a beluga whale. A different person who wouldn't know the photographer from Adam views the photo over the internet, on a computer in Jurisdiction A. Jurisdiction A then prosecutes . . . the PHOTOGRAPHER? WTH? Any judge who thinks this is a good ruling needs to retire, because they obviously have no idea what this whole 'series of tubes' is about.

    w-wh-WHAT!?

I knew it was bad, but this goes past bad to downright ugly.

Disclaimer: you have to be able to read and think, to follow this post about why mortgage-backed securities were the "good" part of the good/bad/ugly housing bubble. Hint: it involves pretty much everyone in the USA not operating on a cash-on-the-barrelhead basis going out of business, worst case.

Also, the government agency that publishes the "official" unemployment numbers is making the numbers up. I already told you about that. I didn't realize that their shenanigans are going to "unexpectedly" give us 11%-ish unemployment this MAY.

    Why Bother Even Fighting?

A colonel who was not on scene when his men acted appropriately is still fighting for his career, even though all his men have been cleared of wrongdoing.

A Ranger who shot a man who was lunging at him, in the presence of his translator, with corroborating forensic expert testimony, is currently rotting in jail.

Blackwater contractors who fired on our enemy in self-defense, whose case was DISMISSED are facing the prospect of the Obama administration appealing the dismissal.

This is craziness. Why have the Bush and Obama administrations refused to take the side of their own men? Answer: they hate the US Military and the Good that it stands for.

If there were truly a search for justice, these cases would never have proceeded to hearing, much less all the way through trials. The Commander In Chief (and his predecessor) is trying to "let the system work" which would be fine, IF the system were not full of people who hate brave, good fighting men. Persecution is NOT the American way. Especially persecution of our own people!

Obama Wants Punitive Tax For Operating Businesses In USA

"Some companies that didn't receive TARP funds would face the fee, the official said. The administration is using the argument that that every major financial firm in the U.S. is a beneficiary of government steps to bolster the industry."

Let's be clear about this: President Obama is a would-be dictator. A rather ham-fisted one, at that.

Several banks were forced to accept "bailout" money, and several wanted the money. The vast majority of banks in the USA got no TARP funds. Still they are part of the same industry. The argument that they also benefited from the bailout is very deeply troubling as a reason for taxing those banks who got no TARP funds along with those who did. Extra-troubling is the fact that GM, Fanny and Freddie are exempt from the tax. The Republicrats who need to be kicked out of office are afraid that the bonuses being paid (in accordance with legal contracts) are generating popular hatred of bankers in general, and so the bill is politically difficult to oppose.

If the non TARP-recipient banks who are being taxed, having benefited in an auxiliary way from TARP, is an excuse for stealing money from them at gunpoint, how about this: YOU benefit directly by not being stuck in a deep depression*. The TARP staved off the depression. Therefore, YOU, YOURSELF, need a tax levied against you. We'll garnish your wages a (just a little bit) for the next decade because you live and work in America, okay?

No? Think it's oppression? Think it's tyrannical?
    You're right.

Special bonus: if you think this will cut into the bonuses of the CEOs of these banks you are fooling yourself. The banks will raise fees on YOU, the consumer. The banking customers, and everyone who does business with these banks, will suffer higher fees because Obama is under the mistaken impression that companies pay taxes.

Consumers pay taxes. This is a $117B tax on YOU.

    ********

*The depression came anyway, and it will last longer because of the TARP program and the other 'bailout' and loss-prevention measures taken by the communists in the Bush and Obama administrations. This bit is for the sake of argument.

    Imagine 13% Unemployment . . .

    Another from Moonbattery:

Your state has 13% unemployment. And four vans full of 58 workers are stopped and the workers are detained for being illegal aliens. And then they are released . . . at the jobsite where they were illegally employed.

Why, that would mean you were imagining life in Rhode Island!

"we're workers, not criminals" is a matter of perspective. If you think laws in general aren't worth the paper they're printed on, you think this is fine. If you don't mind a total breakdown of the republic where you illegally immigrated instead of improving the place where you came from, this is fine.

    . . . Gee, I wonder why there is 12.7% unemployment in Rhode Island . . .
