Gun Porn: Remington Model 870 Police Magnum 12Ga. Shotgun

Now THIS is a trunk gun indeed! This 870 Police Magnum came from the factory with a set of rifle sights on a barrel that's exactly 18" long. It has a Magnum receiver, so shooting 3" shells is just fine, if you don't mind a little recoil.

It looks passable from a distance.

Then you take a little closer look and you notice something about the bluing: it's not there anymore. This rifle is covered with a finish that ranges from patina to minor pitting. Cosmetically challenged, you could say.

That right there is a shotgun I would have NO qualms about slinging into the trunk or under a bench seat. If you had to leave it behind, it would be no great loss.

The bore is another story altogether. It is mirror bright except right at the end, where there is some white fouling. The rifle sights look so rusted as to be no-longer-adjustable but that might just be surface rust. The best part: it seems to work fine. The action cycled a blank shell just fine, and it runs smoother than some other shotguns I've held that looked WAY better than this.

The wooden furniture is in pretty good shape, aside from a few dings. The best looking part of the whole piece is the factory recoil pad.

This one isn't up on Gunbroker yet, but it should be soon. If I had the money, this would be going on brackets in my car tomorrow. I don't. Oh well.
