My birthday. Also the day Col. Cooper died; a very sad gift to me indeed. He would admonish me, telling me to instead rejoice that he had lived.

A tribute to the man.

“There is a saying that one should never meet one’s heroes because of the inevitable disappointment. That was not the case with Jeff Cooper; not even close.”

My disappointment was that my Great Awakening happened too late for me to be able to meet him in person. Going forward, as time, commitments, and budget allow, I hope to try and NOT repeat the failure.

The problem currently is: To whom does one look up anymore? I know of some great men, but giants like Cooper are very far between, and hard to get ahold of.
