Leftists hate the idea of a 401k retirement account.  Only the filty disgusting rich get to really benefit from them, and they discriminate against the poor, poor, pitiful poor people not smart or willing enough to build up nest eggs for themselves.  So it should hardly be a surprise (especially to long-time readers of VFD) that the President's budget proposal comes right out and TAKES from your 401k savings.  The anticipated revenues to the government are supposed to be 9 BILLION dollars, but consider where that money comes from:

The retirement savings you strove a lifetime to set aside, and which you counted on to provide you with a comfortable lifestyle after you retire. 

Hold on there. 

No, wait, it's not your money anyway.  You are an exploiter, treading on the backs of the poor to get that money saved in your richevil taxhaven retirement account.  Having more than three million dollars in a retirement account, well, that's just about as bad as MURDER!

Don't hold your breath waiting for this story to make the nightly news.  Also do not be surprised when the idea somehow becomes law.  Also do not be surprised when the safe-from-confiscation limits change from "tax the really rich" through "tax the pretty well-off" and right down to "who really needs retirement savings anyway" and they start taking everyone's savings.

If you want to secure your wealth, you need to do it with actual property.  Real estate is a traditionally good bed, but it is in a price bubble just now and is easy enough for government to steal (ask the farmers in Rhodesia!) Guns tend to hold their value pretty well over time, but with the current scare-buying still underway, you probably don't want to buy those for investments now either.  Gold is tricky to time but probably going to head north again soon.  The best thing to save your money in these days increasingly looks like a safe in your mattress.  But perhaps our fortunes will change and you will wish you had bought MREs and ammunition instead of making to-be-confiscated 401(k) account contributions.

If you depend on the legal constructs of wicked men to help you save money, don't be surprised when they take it from you, legally.

• Illinois Senator Obama voted against a bill that would require infants born alive to be given life-saving medical treatment.  And he later said he would have voted for it if it ever came up for a vote.

• President Obama is using Air Force One to bring family members of dead children to Washington D.C. to dance in the blood of the children, attempting to advance a legislative agenda.

Right.

Good job, America.  Way to pick a great guy for President.  Again.

A Mistake You Can Only Make Once . . . ?

So North Korea is talking big talk about how they are going to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the US of A.  Excuse me while I tremble in my boots.  Even if they did manage to make a working nuclear bomb (which is not entirely a certainty), and even if they managed to decapitate our entire government by delivering it at the State of the Union address, I am pretty sure our military would know just perzactly whose ass to kick, and they would go about kicking it quite soundly.

On the other hand, if they only managed to get a dirty bomb to damage San Francisco's harbor a little bit, I wonder if the current set of limp wrists in Washington would have the stones to respond with force.

That we even have to ponder this threat makes me think we have been far too lenient with the NorKs to date.  We'll see what (if anything) happens next.  I don't think they'll be able to goad us into a shooting war, but it seems like they might be trying.

Nobody Needs Ten Bullets...

• Nobody needs ten bullets when three thugs break down their door.  Surely you will be able to dispatch them all with only 3.33 bullets each.  They will stand there like ducks in a row; probably FOUR is more than you need!
• Nobody needs ten bullets when a pack of a dozen feral dogs decides you and your kids in the stroller look like lunch.  Maybe they will line up for you, so a few bullets can hit multiple dogs?
• Nobody needs ten bullets when one bad guy is ducking behind a wall and you keep barely-missing him
• Nobody needs ten bullets when they are in the middle of a firefight with federal agents coming to take their guns away.  Oh, wait that's what they don't want you to be able to do!

 Make no mistake: the people who want to limit you to certain kinds of guns and certain numbers of bullets would like very, very much to remove your guns from you - for your own protection, of course.  If the Police and Military are the only ones with guns, then the benevolent State will protect us from harm!

Nevermind the 300 million-odd guns already out there.  Surely every felon would turn in his gun, if only the dear leaders required it of him!  The guns already in the hands of bad people will evaporate like magic when gun control laws are passed, everybody knows that!

Well excuse the [deleted] out of me, I think I will stay just the way I am.  The only thing that needed to change right before that school shooting was the order of killings: asshat first, then the kids.  He got the order wrong but at least he took himself out at the end.  President Obama, being both a Democrat and a Leftist, likes to clump people together in groups instead of thinking of individuals.  Well guess what?

I'm not going to kill anybody, and neither are you, and neither is the guy who shot up that school last week.  In fact, that will never happen again because he's dead as a door nail! 

Well, then again, President Obama is still in campaign mode.  He got elected and re-elected as a blank slate. People projected what they wanted him to be onto the vague platitudes he spoke, and elected what they wanted!  In the spirit of bipartisanship, I will project what I want onto His Vagueness also.

The U.S. will have to change.  Yes.  The USA should become more like Israel and have the Card-Carrying Good Guys wear guns in the schoolhouses across our nation.  No, not the Police . . . the TEACHERS.  How many school shootings like this have you heard about in Israel?

Let's take a guess as to whether CT's strict gun control laws or the likely Gun-Free Zone nature of this school campus gave the shooter even a moment's pause.  Yeah, they don't stop any CRIMINALS from doing bad.  They stop GOOD PEOPLE from being able to do good.  You know what stops a school shooter?  Here's a hint: it's not laws forbidding private gun ownership . . .

A Little Premature

The President has given a list of outrageous demands to the Republicans with no concessions on his part, as his play in negotiating the upcoming "fiscal cliff".  The Republicans had already started talking about compromise before the Democrats even thought about coming to the table.  This will end in the age-old pattern: tax increases with no corresponding budget cuts because the cuts were put off into the future and the political cowards on Capitol Hill will not allow them to go through when the piper comes for his pay.

Today I cashed in my 401(k) account.  I am sure the President would love to convert it -today- to a government account but the Republicrats still stand in the way.  The wishy-washy Republicans that can't even make up their mind to allow a previously agreed-to bipartisan compromise to happen, when they are certain to get the blame no matter WHAT happens.

Well, my capital is flying.  Now.  Unless they make a confiscatory law retroactive to today, my money will be mine.  The gains (all the gains) my money made will be lost, but I will preserve the capital. 

The ruling elite in Germany thought they could control Hitler with the national legislature, and we all (should) know how well that came out.  Maybe I'm wrong.  I stand to lose significant capital gains, but at least I am making an effort to be prudent.

President Obama said he is for redistribution of wealth. Came right out and said it, he did! The Washington Post called the White House and they admitted it was him, but NBC News won't air the damning tape until they authenticate it. And don't hold your breath waiting for them to authenticate it.

The Fast and the Furious is a public relations nightmare for the Obama administration . . . if the Public knows about and believes the story. So it is very helpful for prominent bloggers to poo-pooh and spin the story in convincing fashion. What better way for the blogosphere to be sure to stay on-message than to coordinate their stories in e-mail communications with the Department of "Justice"?

Remember children, the ends justify the means for the leftist, and that includes perverting the press into an organ of the State so the leftist at the head of the State is held in high esteem by the general public!

Because We Can TELL You Are Cheating Us

Well isn't that neat. The Travis County Commissioner's Court just voted itself and a few other elected County officials a pay rise. Judge Biscoe said it would be "unreasonable" for us to expect him and a couple dozen other elected County officials to not get a cost-of-living adjustment type pay rise, in light of the bad economy. The one (of five) Commissioner who voted against the raise, said it was the economy that made the raise a bad idea.

Look Judge, I know your part-time $110k/year job is a real pain in the [deleted] but spare us, okay? You voted yourself a pay rise, and then voted to increase our taxes all in the same week. You know what? You sir are an [deleted]. If you were a value-add to the tax base, then maybe it would be justified. My boss is a value-add to the company and he hasn't given HIMself a pay rise in the last 8 years or so. You know what you are? You're a leech. You think it's all well and good to give yourself more money due to the hard times we're all in, but you are neglecting to think of the source of the funds. That "more" for you is our "less." Every family in the County now has LESS money in these hard times because YOU and your BFFs have a little MORE. You see how that works? It's almost a zero-sum game . . .

Something just occurred to me. This is one of the reasons why leftists hate profit and well-paid executive positions. They can't see past the end of their noses. They wish all things to stream from government. Government employees can't increase their pay without literally taking from someone else's wallet. Therefore, making more money than you "need" is wickedness. The other side of the story is, wealth can be created. They don't get the true concept of wealth (or value, or wages, or capital risk) so they don't get why it is okay with the Greedy Republicans for rich people to be rich.

I was going to go off on a rant about how we don't want an increase in the gasoline tax in Texas because the politicians keep diverting the gas tax we already pay. Some idiot in government was on the radio sounding mystified as to why the stupid voters keep hatin' on a gas tax increase. You know why we hate it? Because we can see all the waste and crap our money gets spent on, instead of roads and bridges it is supposed to go to. Jerks. What a bunch of jerks are running the show these days. Don't MAKE me run for office, people!

Well, unless I run for the Commissioner's Court. I hear that's a pretty good paycheck for a part-time gig.

In related news, Greece has a socialized healthcare system. The government pays, mostly. When you go to the pharmacy, the cost is from 0% to 25% for your pills. That is, until the government ran out of other people's money last month and now pharmacies are not being reimbursed for medicines. Now pharmacies have started charging full price for medicines when people go to get their prescriptions filled.

Note that, as a Capitalist I would love this all to pieces, except that the bottomless-bucket-of-money insurance plans have driven the cost of medicines through the roof. You can't have a half-free market work right.

Go there today, and there is a link to a "social democratic" party in Greenland called Forward. There is a link to Kadima, an Israeli leftist political party. There is a radical Russian socialist party called VPERED.

Yesterday, there was a link to Forward (generic name of socialist publications). Today, that link is gone. The article itself is being considered for deletion. In its place is a link to Forward (Obama-Biden Campaign Slogan) which has only one sentence in the entry: "On April 30th, 2012 the 2012 Obama-Biden campaign announced the slogan "Forward" " and it cites an NPR article. This one-sentence article on wikipedia is also being considered for deletion. There are valid arguments on both sides, and there is the possibility that these articles will be left or even expanded. But for today, the old link is gone and the new link is there.

N.B.: April 30th is the day before May Day, the international SOCIALIST holiday. On that day, he announced his socialist keyword/campaign slogan choice.

Say all you like that health care payment is a nationwide problem, but it is still not a national problem. The payment by an individual, for the services rendered by a private company, in one State, is an individual matter - or at the most, a State matter. There is no-where a place for the federal Government to stick its nose in this business.

I think one way to look at this set of cases is as follows: If Obamacare's individual mandate part is tossed out by the supreme Court, it is a net neutral for the 2012 election. A dramatic example of how the President is a Communist who doesn't know anything about America is offset by the national press corps telling you the REPUBLICANS STOLE YOUR HEALTH!!!!1! So, then, the election will be decided based on the price of a gallon of gasoline. Pre-election gas price drop in October in 3...2... Oh, did you not hear about the Saudis sending us a "wall of oil" because suddenly them making a profit is a problem? Let's review again, on whose watch the price of gas recently doubled, and who has prevented us from getting away from imported oil recently? Hmm....

If the supreme Court of the United States rules that the individual mandate portion of Obamacare was an unconstitutional over-reach by Congress and overturns it in a very "prejudiced" manner so the Congress will know going forwards they can't MAKE us buy stuff, it will have been worth all the stress and worry.

If they don't, and they say Congress was within its authority, we're done.

23 Years Ago. Wow.

Boortz mentioned today that if you were born when the Berlin Wall fell, you would be 23 years old. That set me thinking. I was young, too young to understand what was up but old enough to realize it was a Big Deal. The televisor showed people dancing (it was a party) on top of the graffiti'd wall. Then there were people with sledge hammers, then heavy equipment cutting and pulling down gaps in the wall.

Then there were the sales of 'genuine' pieces of the wall, which may outnumber the fragments of the 'genuine' cross of our Lord.

. . . now, of course, the leftists want to erect a fiscal Berline Wall around the U.S.A., but that is another story.

Stick America With a Fork, I Think She's Done

You, as an American citizen, in America, can be detained for an unlimited duration, without a lawyer, without charges being brought. President Obama just signed it into law. Because, you know, you could be a political adversary terrorist or something. Better safe than sorry when it comes to imprisoning people, right? Isn't that what the founders said, "It is better that one hundred innocent Persons should suffer than that one guilty person should escape?" Oh well I heard something like that was said, once.

Sure it's unconstitutional. But who will challenge it? If people are disappeared and don't get a trial, how will this ever get to the supreme Court with a party in valid standing as a plaintiff? Okay, so maybe somebody gets an injunction on principle and it's overturned by a court and the law is tossed out . . . but it was made law in the first place, by 86 of our 100 Senators and our duly elected President signed it despite "reservations" about the bill. You know what he should have done? Killed it. He would be a hero if he killed it but he signed the bill into law. What's worse people that (formerly) got MY vote voted for this monstrosity. The reasons this is a total fail overall are very many, but it might just be the single-issue for some single-issue voters that gets a bunch of people to vote against the wouldhavebeenamajority Republicans in the upcoming elections. We'll see.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. It's over. America as it was intended to be by the people who made it - is done. We've jumped the shark. We're now waiting for the fizzle. It was real for a minute there, though. So long, land of the free.

What's The Worst That Could Happen?

It is about to be legal for the Feds to come and get you, impound you, not charge, and interrogate you Guantanamo style. The President, big chiefy man-pants manly man that he is, has totally folded on his veto threat bluff.

We'll see. I can't help but think some good solid Federal agents are going to be leaving wives and children with the cold comfort of life insurance payouts because of this. I am reminded of a law that kills people in Houston. On certain highways at certain times of day, your car will be gone within six minutes. Tow trucks patrol the areas to keep the roads clear. Traffic moves. And a few years ago I heard of the first guy who was killed playing Frogger on a busy highway trying to get gasoline for his empty fuel tank, instead of catching a tow bill.

Sure and you're not an innocent man if you don a mask to disappear your fellow Americans . . . but eventually one of those matches is going to find a fuse, mark the words.

The climate conference in Durban has apparently come to a deal. They have agreed to agree to something over the next five years, and in another five years it would go into effect.

They agreed to:
Global taxation/wealth redistribution for poor countries' benefit
Third world countries have to use the same expensive clean technology as everybody else
You have to participate, it will be legally binding

All of this, of course, will be pretty hard to cram down the throats of the people of the civilized world. Look for backing from watermelon/closet socialists, rich people who make money either way making the transactions, manufacturers of "green" technology, and especially the leaders of crooked 3rd world "developing" nations who will be happy to steal whatever money they can that is supposed to go toward making their environment cleaner.

Catholic Church Ignores Book of Revelation?

The argument might rather be, that they are trying to live up to their part in it. The reference is here. The word catholic means "universal" and they are only trying to fill such large shoes as that. Is it really going to far, that the organization proclaiming itself as Heaven's gatekeeper has an idea that there should be a super-national financial regulatory body? National sovereignty? Nuts to your sovereignty, OUR head of State speaks "in the place of the son of God" you small-timers!

The reason why everybody is only reporting "The 18 page document titled ..." is that this document is rather thick reading. Well I skimmed it and some of the reports you heard are true: this is the Vatican's pie-in-the-sky wishing for a one-world government, with a side of slightly more-practical wishing for a one-world financial regulatory and TAXING authority. They just want to offer their helpful suggestions to the upcoming G20 meeting. That it would be great if we gradually made a transition to a world-government model based on truth, justice, and the international-brotherhood-of-man way. Sure, some developed nations will miss out in the short term, but they ought to show solidarity with the third-world for the common good!

This paragraph if no other should be plenty to let you know that the Pope is not going to be requiring the G20 to set up the NWO immediately. The goal is (empahsis is mine):

Charity and truth inspire no national governments and even fewer banks of any sort. To even express a desire for this sort of thing lets you know that a few crayons missing from the box. The only way men will ever get up a real world government is through bloody force, and even then it won't work well (keep reading in Revelation). When Jesus comes back, God himself will rule the world and prove that it can be done. Until then, it must be run by Men.

The problem (for now) is that, like all governments, it must be run by men. As Milton Friedman asked, where do you find such angels to organize our society?
