He is trying to foist off a couple trillion more dollars of debt on our children and their children in an attempt to head farther down the road to Socialism.
He is poised to gain politically if the bill passes, or if it fails. The win for him if the bill passes is obvious, but have you considered this? He has said "A failure to act, and act now will turn crisis into a catastrophe," and so if the bill fails, he will win.

That's right, he wins. He can be played up as the Prescient President, and if only the idiot redneck hick Republicans hadn't shot down the spendulus bill, we would have been ok. Sure, we should do what he says from now on. Ask the mainstream media, and it becomes a win, even though he was roundly defeated in priciple and practice.
... we just won't remember to report that the economy was going to fall off a cliff, whether or not the bill was passed.
